The Jefferson County S.P.C.A. is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1891 to help protect and care for domestic animals in Jefferson County. We are the only No-Kill facility in the area, as well as being the only shelter to accept cats in the county. Our shelter is the primary abuse investigation organization, and is the site of the only early-age spay/neuter before adoption program in Jefferson County. As a non-profit organization, we exist on the donations that we receive from the general public, as well as from our varied fundraising events.
Our goals include reducing the number of unwanted companion animals in Jefferson County. It is equally important to our organization to reduce the amount of animal abuse and neglect that is committed in this area. In addition, we are actively involved in public awareness and education at all age levels. We are also actively striving to provide a better quality of life for those animals entering a shelter environment, as well as a better quality of pet to those adopting from our shelter.
